Get your provisional licence
Apply to the DVLA via the gov.uk website and follow the steps for applying for your licence. When you have obtained your licence you are then ready to go on the road to start learning. The cost is currently £34 online.

In your first lessons you will learn how to set up the car to suit yourself and how to operate all the controls.
This is your journey to becoming a safe, skilful and independent driver.
Becoming a safe and skilful driver means knowing your road signs, Road markings and what they mean.
Prepare for your theory test
When it’s time to start learning your theory, Streets Ahead will provide you with a free package (after your first five lessons) which will guide you through the fundamental aspects of the test.
Continue to learn
On passing your theory, there is a little more reading you need to learn called ‘Tell me, Show me’ questions. With some of these, we will be looking under the bonnet to learn basic maintenance of keeping fluids topped up and how to do it, also about keeping your vehicle maintained and safe to be on the road.
Pass your practical
By this point you should be fully prepared and confident in your ability to pass the practical examination. We’ll ensure any worries or niggles you have are put to rest, and put you in the frame of mind so that you are ready to get on the open road and enjoy your new found freedom!
